Casablanca- Driss Sekkat, a Moroccan-American TV producer based in Washington D.C., in the United States, has recently been awarded the 2013 CINE Golden Eagle Award, in the category of investigative documentary, for his show Street Pulse.

Sekkats Street Pulse focuses on current social and political issues in Egypt. The award-winning show sheds light on the difficulties and dangers encountered by quarry workers, such as exploitation and unsafe working conditions.

According to Sekkat, Street Pulsetakes a unique look at the most important social and cultural issues, examining a single topic each week such as the impact of the internet on political and social change, human trafficking and sexual harassment, refugees and the food crisis.

Driss Sekkat graduated from the American School in Casablanca, Morocco, in 2003, before heading to Ohio Wesleyan University (Ohio, U.S.), where he obtained his BA in Print Journalism in 2006. He then moved to The George Washington University (D.C., U.S.), where he studied Filmmaking until 2009.

Sekkat is an award-winning international media executive, specializing in television development, as well as a key executive in start-up operations in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. He is currently a Senior Supervising Producer for the Middle East Broadcasting Networks.

The CINE Golden Eagle Film and Video Competitions, which take place each Spring and Fall, feature numerous, volunteer media specialists who assess and judge entries in several moving-image genres. The CINE Golden Eagle Award is widely recognized as a symbol of the highest standards in media production.

CINEs mission, as cited in the companys official website, is to support emerging and established producers of film, television and digital media through its film competitions, educational panels, screenings and networking opportunities.
