Rabat - The City Council of Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, approved the extension of line 2 of the Rabat-Salé tramway by 2.3 kilometers on the side of Akarrin neighborhood.
During its recent regular session held last Thursday, the City Council approved unanimously the project aimed at extending Line 2 of the tramway, connecting the neighborhoods of Bettana in Sale and Akkarin in Rabat.
This line of the tramway network will also be extended on the side of Akkarin neighborhood (Moulay Youssef Hospital) to reach the intersection of boulevards of Assalam and El Kifah. The line will cover a distance of 2.3 kilometers, with four stations located approximately 500 meters apart.
In addition to Rabat and Casablanca, studies are underway for the implementation of Tramway lines in the northern city of Tangiers.
The project is likely to connect neighborhoods with a high concentration of population and industrial areas in Tangiers and its surroundings.
