Morocco’s Economic Budget Marks MAD 5.2 Billion Surplus in January

Rabat- The Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that the country’s budget surplus during the month of January 2015 amounted to MAD 5.2 billion, compared to a deficit of MAD 141 million during the same month last year.

According to a report of the Kingdom’s public treasury under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, budget revenues reached about MAD 16.6 billion in January, compared to MAD 16.5 billion during January 2014, marking an increase of 0.6%.

According to the Ministry’s report, expenses amounted to about MAD 14.4 billion during the last month, compared to MAD 17.2 billion during the same month last year, which marked a decrease of 16.6%.

The ministry added that the budget surplus was the result of higher revenues compared with the expenses, in addition to some revenues from private accounts.

The report added that the value of the government’s investments amounted to about MAD 8.3 billion during January, compared to MAD 8.6 billion during the same month last year, a drop of 6.7%.
