Rabat – Following the controversy on social media about the deplorable conditions of Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah during a match on Saturday, Morocco’s Ministry of Youth and Sports will reportedly open an investigation in order to find out who will be held responsible.
The Minister of Sports and Youth, Mohamed Ouzzine, announced that his Ministry will form an investigative committee that will enquire into all the stages of the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah’s pitch installation with natural turf.
Mohamed Ouzzine went on to add that this investigation aims to find out who will be held responsible for the poor condition of the pitch of Rabat’s stadium on Saturday.
Due to heavy rain in Rabat, pools of water appeared on the field, which created significant problems for the players at Saturday’s game between Cruz Azul and the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, raised concerns over the poor condition of the pitch, which prompted FIFA to switch the Spanish club’s game on Tuesday from Rabat to Marrakesh.
In a statement to Hespress, Ouzzine said that the Moroccan company that was in charge of installing natural turf in the Rabat stadium has disappointed him and made him lie to Moroccans.
“The company assured me that the quality of the pitch’s grass would withstand all the different climatic conditions. And I was telling Moroccans through my statements to media what the company told me,” Mohamed Ouzzine explained.
