Rabat - The Royal family, as it is the tradition in happy events, was keen to associate the Moroccan people in the celebrations marking the wedding of Prince Moulay Rachid to Lalla Oum Keltoum.
At the start of these festivities on Thursday with the traditional wishes and gift-offering ceremony (Hdyia) at the Mechouar square of the Royal Palace in Rabat chaired by King Mohammed VI, several newly-wed couples from all regions of Morocco were invited to share in the joy of this wedding.
The ceremony, which took place in the presence of several outstanding figures and guests both from Morocco and abroad, thus became a popular and national event that reflected the strong cohesion binding the throne and the people and the great affection that Moroccans harbor for the illustrious Royal family.
The young couples who had a chance to attend the wedding ceremonies were moved that their own celebrations coincided with those of prince Moulay Rachid and expressed gratefulness to King Mohammed VI for the honor to invite them to the Royal palace and for the solicitude thus shown to the Moroccan youth.
Another highlight of the ceremony was when representatives of the Moroccan 16 regions, clad in traditional clothing and bearing gifts, paraded in front of the royal stand carrying gifts in Taifurs (traditional plates with cone-shaped lids) with censers, henna (flowering plant), Arabic gum and sandalwood.
At the end of the ceremony, the King, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, headed to the Mechouar esplanade to greet the cheering crowds. The audience included prominent national and foreign guests and dignitaries.
