Rabat- Moroccan Foreign Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar, denied on Sunday a rumor that he had allegedly approached his French counterpart, Laurant Fabuis, and asked him to help his daughter to a secure a job in France.
A letter that has been circulated to a number of Moroccan news outlets purports that the French Minister intervened to help Sarah Mezouar, daughter of the Moroccan Foreign Minister, obtain a work permit in France in order to join the French branch of American firm McKinsey.
According to the same letter, which does not contain the logo of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Laurent Fabius allegedly intervened in favor of Sarah Mezouar following a meeting he held with his Moroccan counterpart in Rabat in November 2013.
But the Moroccan Minister dismissed the accusation as slander aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
“It is a slander, after that of French nationality,” a person close to the Minister was quoted by Le360 as saying.
“This slander aimed at tarnishing the image of a minister who is doing a great job at the head of the Moroccan diplomacy,” the same source added.
