Texas Extremist Group Trains to Shoot Muslims with Bullets Mixed with Pig's Blood

Lee Kainoelani

Rabat – A group of white male extremists in Texas, are training against a Muslim “uprising” by dipping bullets in pig's blood and bacon grease targeting victims of the Islamic faith, according to RT.

An organization known as “Bureau of American Islamic Relations” (BAIR) said that using pig products on the bullets would ensure that the victims would “go straight to hell,” according to a video released by AJ+.

“A lot of us here are using either pig’s blood or bacon grease on our bullets, packing it in the middle so that when you shoot a Muslim, they go straight to hell,” said a man in the video, while another adds, “Don’t f*ck with white people.”

BAIR, based in Irving, TX, fears that Muslim refugees will take over the city, and has already staged armed protests against incoming Syrian refugees seeking asylum.

“2,174 Syrian refugees have been admitted to the US after a vigorous vetting process. ZERO have been arrested or removed on terrorism charges,” Jen Psaki, Director of Comunications at the White House in Washington, DC, tweeted.

BAIR has also staged armed protests outside of mosques in Texas against the “Islamization of America”.

Islamophobia has increased in the U.S., with a 2015 YouGov poll showing that 55 percent of Americans have an “unfavorable” opinion of Islam.

David Wright, spokesperson for the extremist group, said he was “going to start doing something about about Muslims now”.

“If you get to the point where there’s an Arab Spring, where there’s a lot of radical Muslims here and they all decide to hit the streets at one time… that’s going to be more of a battlefield type situation,” said Wright.

Recently, Beth Van Duyne, mayor of Irving, fuelled the tensions by persuading the city’s council to support a state bill with the purpose of blocking Muslim influence in US courts.

“The next step in jihad does not involve random, sporadic attacks,” he told the news outlet. “They started killing people. Do you really expect me to stand here and wait until we get to that point?”

Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm calls for teaching Islam in state schools

By Lee Kainoelani

Rabat – The bishop of the German Protestant Church has called for Islam to be taught in all state schools to prevent Muslim youth from being drawn into radicalization, according to the Independent.

Despite the recent rise in Islamophobia and hate against Muslims in many parts of the world, Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, who leads the Evangelical Lutheran Church, said teaching “extensive” Islam classes in German schools would give Muslim students the chance to adopt a critical approach to their own religion.

The bishop also added that all faiths in Germany must be compatible with the country’s democratic constitution. “Tolerance, religious freedom and freedom of conscience must apply to all religions,” he said.

Bedford-Strohm proposed that Islamic associations in Germany remain responsible for the courses, and hopes that they will organize themselves to be a “clear partner” for the German state.

Seven of the 16 federal states in Germany already offer some form of Islamic religion classes in their schools. A recent survey suggested almost two-thirds of the German population feel that Islam has no place in their country.

Representatives of the Catholic Church agreed with Bedford-Strohm's proposal, adding that they had previously called for teaching of Islam to be introduced into state schools.

But, there have been recent rivalries and disputes among Islamic associations, which have complicated efforts to manage religious instruction for Muslims in some areas.

Germany has the second largest Muslim community in Western Europe, with some four million registered Muslims.

Mafia Expert, Robert Saviano ,Claims Britain 'Most Corrupt' Country in the World

By Lee Kainoelani

Rabat - Britain is the most corrupt country in the world, says Roberto Saviano, a journalist who spend more than a decade exposing the criminal dealings of the Italian Mafia, according to the Independent.

Saviano made these comments at the Hay Literary Festival, stating that “If I asked you what is the most corrupt place on Earth you might tell me well it’s Afghanistan, maybe Greece, Nigeria, the South of Italy and I will tell you it’s the UK.”

“It’s not the bureaucracy, it’s not the police, it’s not the politics but what is corrupt is the financial capital. 90 per cent of the owners of capital in London have their headquarters offshore,” Saviano told the audience at the Hay Literary Festival.

Saviano, who wrote the best-selling exposes Gomorrah and ZeroZeroZero has been living under police protection since publishing information about members of the Camorra, a powerful Neopolitan branch of the mafia, in 2006.

The UK ranked 10th in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2015. It measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide.

Saviano also commented on the EU referendum debate, arguing that a vote to leave the EU would make the UK even more exposed to the organized crime.

“Leaving the EU means allowing this to take place. It means allowing the Qatari societies, the Mexican cartels, the Russian Mafia to gain even more power and HSBC has paid £2 billion Euros in fines to the US government, because it confessed that it had laundered money coming from the cartels and the Iranian companies,” said Saviano. “We have proof, we have evidence.”

Rabat - Morocco has recently shifted into high gear in the construction of its road infrastructure. As of 2016, Morocco has reached 1772 kilometers of highways.

The number was announced by Anwar Benazzouz, the General Director of the Moroccan motorway operator Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) Thursday at a press conference in Rabat for the presentation of the company’s annual results of 2015.

Currently, ADM builds, maintains and operates a motorway network of 1800 kilometers in total. According to the statistics made public during the press conference, Morocco’s motorway network comprised 1588 kilometers in use by December 31, 2015 and 184 kilometers are under construction. The rest is programmed for the medium term, as explained by the company’s representative.

The motorway connecting Berrechid and Khouribga was inaugurated in 2015, while the Rabat-Sale bypass (42 km) and Safi-Al Jadida (143 km) are still in the terminal phase of construction. The Deputy Minister for Transport, Mohamed Najib Boulif, announced on Wednesday, May 11 that the highway bypassing Rabat and Sale and its landmark cable-stayed bridge would be inaugurated for traffic use in June.

The average daily traffic amounted to 18.9 million vehicles per day in 2015, which represents an increase of 8.1% compared to 2014.This traffic has generated a revenue of 2,319 million dirhams, an increase of 9.7% compared to 2014, according to the ADM.

Despite the increase in traffic, ADM’s net income is, however, still in deficit as explained by the company. December 31, 2015 marked a loss of 2,150 million dirhams, compared to 1.114 million dirhams in 2014.

Morocco’s National Team Players Photographed Smoking Hookah

Rabat - Following their win over Gongo-Brazaville in a friendly game on Friday in Tangier, Moroccan national soccer team players were given two days off by their coach Hervé Renard.

However, instead of using this time to rest and prepare for their upcoming official match against Libya on Friday in Tunis, some players went out partying.

A picture that has been shared widely on social media shows Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia and Grenada striker Youssef El Arabi smoking hookah, according to Le360.

For the past ten years, Morocco’s national soccer team has had a hard time qualifying for major tournaments such as the World Cup and the African Cup of Nations, even though Morocco has had a large pool of talented players.

Many observers have attributed the decade-long poor performances of the Moroccan team to lack of discipline and bad habits that are unworthy of world-class professional players.

Grey Book of terrorism in the heart of Moroccan-European security cooperation"

Rabat – Morocco and Belgium discussed, Monday in Rabat, means to boost cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism.

This came in a meeting between Moroccan minister delegate to the Interior, Cherki Drais, and a delegation of Moroccan-Belgian parliamentary friendship group, led by Belgian MP Andre Frederic.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss collaboration in the fight against terrorism, which constitutes a "major concern" for both countries, and to assess cooperation between the two countries, Frederic told the press after the meeting.

Through this visit, the Belgian delegation intends to meet with Moroccan ministers and parliamentarians to "take stock of our common concerns to maintain a democratic functioning of our respective States," he said, highlighting the common will to uphold the friendly relations between Moroccans and Belgians.

During this meeting, Drais recalled the reforms initiated under the leadership of King Mohammed VI in various fields.

He also highlighted Morocco's political process, notably the 2011 constitutional reform and the last elections in 2016, underlining efforts made in fighting poverty and insecurity, particularly through the large-scale anti-poverty project National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).

From Casablanca to New York, A Celebration of Moroccan-Jewish Partnership

Irina Tsukerman

New York - On Tuesday, May 17, young American Jewish professionals from the American Jewish Committee’s (AJC) young professionals chapter ACCESS NY, along with their colleagues at the American Sephardi Federation (ASF), came together with their Moroccan counterparts for a groundbreaking night of history and culture.

This night celebrated the strengthening of the relationship between the two communities in New York, and launched a new partnership with the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in New York. With the support of the Mimouna Association, the Consulate, Tourism Office, and a Moroccan Jewish distillery Nahmias et Fils, Americans and Moroccans marked this momentous occasion after having coordinated a series of smaller dinner gatherings over the past several months.

Following a VIP cocktail hour with some of the AJC young professionals, as well as diplomats from the Consulate and Morocco’s Permanent Mission to the UN, the audience gathered in the auditorium of the Center for Jewish History for the start of the formal program.

Despite delays caused by a massive train fire that disrupted thousands of New York commuters, several hundred people were in the audience.

A special guest speaker from Morocco – the Parliament’s Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Mehdi Bensaid – had missed two flights, but was still able to make it to the event in time to speak at the panel, fresh off the airplane.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Consul General Mohammed Benabdeljalil, which underscored the Consulate’s interest in the continuation of its joint programming with the AJC and the ASF. He recalled his own memories of celebrating Mimouna, a traditional Moroccan Jewish holiday marking the end of Passover, where Muslim neighbors would join their Jewish friends in cooking delicious food, singing, and dancing. Now, Mimouna is being revived in Morocco thanks to the efforts of the Mimouna Association and its college-age partners, some of whom were present in the audience.

Benabdeljalil’s opening was followed by a beautiful travel video of Morocco’s best tourist destinations: from the fantastic beaches and delicious cuisine to the the magical dunes of the Sahara. As was mentioned, Morocco is unique in that much of the tourism industry is aimed at locals, not just travelers from abroad. Moroccans invest in their own country—the souvenirs tourists buy are also found in Moroccan homes.

Next, Dr. John Entelis, a professor at Fordham University and expert on North Africa, gave an enlightening talk about Morocco’s geopolitical role. He explained how and why Morocco stands out among its neighbors as a model of stability, and more importantly, growth, innovation, and improvements in education.

Entelis emphasized that unlike many of its neighbors, Morocco cannot rely on natural resources to be prosperous, and instead, focuses on making the best of its human resources. Although the country is poor due to its geographical limitations and lack of education, it admirably moves forward towards addressing these issues. Unlike nearby Algeria, Morocco had a short and less traumatic French occupation by France.

Likewise, the Spanish occupation did not cause an alarming level of national upheaval. During the Cold War, Algeria turned to the Soviet Union, but Morocco remained West-oriented and the King was able to unify the country by reaching Moroccans of all backgrounds. The balance of power between the monarch and the parliament creates a stable system that gives significant representation to a variety of different viewpoints. Even Islamists have their say, but within the context of checks and balances, and with no possibility of being regarded as symbols of martyrdom.

Entelis ended on an optimistic note about Morocco’s determination and thoughtful course of action that is placing it ahead of its neighbors.  The country strives not for dominance, but rather to be a model of stability and potential leader in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Jason Guberman, the Executive Director of the American Sephardi Federation, added depth to the understanding of Morocco’s unique position with respect to its Jewish citizenship by demonstration some of its accomplishments through the Diarna project. The Diarna project is a geomuseum that has preserved digital panoramas, as well as photographs and videos of Jewish historical sites and oral testimonies across the Middle East and North Africa. He showed the audience pictures of a beautiful synagogue, one of many preserved carefully in Morocco, where many Muslims care for sites in communities where Jews—many of whom have immigrated to other countries—are no longer present.

Additionally, Guberman showed pictures of a cemetery, just one of over 150 cemeteries designated by the King for protection and preservation. Morocco has uniquely proscribed the preservation of its Jewish heritage in its new Constitution, and has clearly been observing the spirit, as well as the letter, of that document. Other videos shown by Guberman included that of a Moroccan Jew speaking in his native Judeo-Moroccan Arabic dialect, as well as a Muslim man happily recalling Jewish prayers he had the occasion to observe.

The final portion of the program concluded with a panel moderated by Jason Isaacson, AJC’s Director of International Affairs, a political expert, and decorated by the King of Morocco. Isaacson engaged in conversation with the Mission’s Deputy Ambassador Abederrazzak Laazzel, as well as Mehdi Bensaid, who offered a great deal of additional insight from his perspective. Isaacson engaged both officials in the discussion of Ban Ki Moon’s “slippage” about the “occupation” of Western Sahara. Isaacson clarified for the audience what the UN Secretary General’s remarks actually were – an insult to Morocco and its role in countering terrorism and religious extremism, as well as its role in creating the Marrakech Declaration.

Upon the conclusion of the formal program, the audience joined AJC and ASF staffers outside in the Great Hall for a taste of fun and celebration that can be expected from the partnership in the future – Moroccan style. A Moroccan band, led by the renowned singer Jawad, played music that got the audience on their feet and dancing. When people were not dancing, they were eating delicious traditional Moroccan fare, catered by kosher restaurant “Eighteen.” Even a talented henna artist contributed to the party by giving guests beautiful henna tattoos on their hands.

The celebration went well into the night and was a tremendous success, but this is just the beginning of an important partnership.

Spanish Eggs on Moroccan Plates This Ramadan

Rabat - During Ramadan, eggs are an essential component of ftour in Morocco and can be found on family tables at every Moroccan household each evening when the daily fast ends.

Due to this year’s spread of the NH1 virus, eggs will be imported it from neighboring Spain.

According to the newspaper Akhbar Alyaoum, which cited Spanish sources, an official agreement has been signed between Morocco and Spain in order to import eggs. The terms of this agreement have not yet been made public.

Morocco must import eggs to make up a deficit caused by the spread of the avian flu virus in Moroccan chicken farms at the start of the year. Moroccan authorities recently announced a decrease in the importation tax for eggs from 40 to 10 percent in order to encourage egg imports.

Government publications estimate that during Ramadan, Moroccan demand for eggs will reach approximately 4,000 tons. Morocco previously exported eggs between 2010 and 2011.

Police Arrest Kuwaiti Man Caught on Video Beating Naked Egyptian Expat

By Lee Kainoelani

Rabat - Kuwaiti police said they have arrested a citizen who appeared in a viral video assaulting a naked Egyptian expat, according to Al Arabiya English.

An outrage on social media over footage posted recently of a man dressed in a traditional Gulf white thobe insulting and attacking a naked Egyptian man prompted Egypt’s Foreign Ministry to contact Kuwaiti authorities over the incident.

Ali Abdullah al-Shamry, 40, made a “detailed confession” to the crime, telling police he assaulted the Egyptian man, who worked for him, after a theft occurred at the mobile store that he owns.

Shamry reportedly stripped his employee of his clothing and then beat the Egyptian with his hands and a stick, and shouted verbal abuse during the beating.

The mobile shop owned by Shamry is said to be in the process of shutting down, according to Kuwaiti authorities.

Another Egyptian man was also arrested for filming and posting the video online.

An investigation into the case is in progress pending referral of the two suspects to public prosecution.

Senator John Barrasso, chairman of this year’s U.S. Republican Platform Committee

By Lee Kainoelani

Rabat - Senator John Barrasso, chairman of this year’s U.S. Republican Platform Committee, dodged a question, Sunday, about where the GOP stands on Donald Trump’s proposed Muslim ban, according to CBS News.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week”, the Wyoming Republican was asked where the party currently stands on the presumptive GOP nominee’s “Muslim ban”.

"The platform is about the core values of our party. It's who we are, it's what we stand for, and I met with Donald Trump about it and he understands that the platform is very important to the Republican Party," Barrasso said. "It's going to be a conservative platform that's going to be positive, optimistic, looking to the future, focused on things like jobs, the economy, and national security. And what he was focused on with that ban is national security."

When pushed further to directly answer the question, he said that the platform committee will meet in Cleveland, in July a week before the party’s convention, and will work it out then.

"We've asked Donald Trump to allow the process to play out. He has agreed to do that. And I've asked him personally to embrace the platform and I believe he will. National security will be a big part of it," Barrasso said.

Barrasso made no further comments on the Muslim entry ban.

Donald Trump Criticizes Barack Obama Mosque Visit

By Lee Kainoelani

Rabat - During a conference in Japan, U.S President Barack Obama discussed the 2016 presidential campaign, saying foreign leaders are surprised by Donald Trump and are not sure how seriously to take the things he says, according to CBS news.

"They are rattled by it - and for good reason," Obama said. "Because a lot of the proposals he has made display either ignorance of world affairs, or a cavalier attitude, or an interest in getting tweets and headlines."

Obama contrasted Trump’s proposals to those that address what’s required to keep the U.S. safe and prosperous, and “to keep the world on an even keel.”

Questions about Trump have increasingly followed Obama as he travels overseas. Obama said that Trump now comes up in every one of his foreign meetings, and that he offers reassurances that he doesn’t believe Trump will be elected.

In the past, Trump has opposed the Asia-Pacific free trade deal that Obama brokered, threatened to renegotiate Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran and the global climate pact reached in Paris, and proposed a ban on all Muslims from entering the U.S.

While the President has generally avoided voicing his opinion about the presidential race, he made it no secret of his distaste towards Trump.

Obama continues to downplay any Democratic concerns about the primary fight between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. He said that the difference between Democrats and Republicans this year is that the Democratic candidates aren’t that ideologically different from one another.

He also predicted that the ongoing nomination fight will do little to hinder their prospects.

"The one thing I've learned after being around for a while is that kind of day-to-day choppiness is not indicative of longer trends," Mr. Obama said. "I feel confident about the Democratic vision for the country."

He added: "Would it be nice if everybody was immediately unified and singing kumbaya and whoever the nominee ended up being could just take a nice two-week vacation to re-charge? Absolutely. I guarantee you that the eventual nominee sure wishes it was over now. Because this is a grind. It's hard."

Abdelilah Benkirane, Morocco's Head of Government

Rabat - Morocco is a haven of peace, tolerance and exceptional interfaith coexistence in a world awash with hatred and intolerance, said, on Monday in Rabat, Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane.

Speaking at the 12th Morocco-EU Meeting, organized by the Ribat Al Fath Association for Sustainable Development and the German Foundation Konrad Adenauer under the theme "Peaceful coexistence: a shared responsibility", Benkirane underlined that Morocco has always advocated a moderate and open discourse and has defended, firmly and with responsibility, the values of peace, security, tolerance and coexistence.

All foreign communities and religious minorities living in Morocco, with no exception, enjoy peace and security as other Moroccan citizens and practice their faith freely, said the head of government, adding that the Kingdom has irreversibly opted for religious tolerance and coexistence for the past 12 centuries.

This is why Morocco stands out among other countries, he said, underscoring that the north African country succeeded in preserving its Islamic identity while promoting a moderate and tolerant version of Islam.

On the Morocco-EU ties, Benkirane said that European countries are urged to back up the Moroccan model, which is based on sustainable development, stability, progress, solidarity and freedom, noting that Morocco has become a source of inspiration for other countries across the world.

Counterterrorism Approach Enabled Morocco to Preserve Stability: Amrani

youssef amrani

Doha - The Moroccan counterterrorism approach, which encompasses the security, social, economic and religious dimensions, enabled Morocco to preserve its stability and security, in a region marked by chaotic geopolitical points of reference, said, on Tuesday in Doha, Youssef Amrani, chargé de mission at the royal office.

Tackling the terrorist threat from the security point of view alone is not enough, he said at a conference on the economic future of the Middle East, held in Doha.

Amrani recalled that peace, stability and security on the long term cannot be separated from the fundamental triptych: security, inclusive human development and the promotion of cultural and religious values.

He noted that complementarity between these three basic factors, along with the domestic political reforms undertaken by HM King Mohammed VI, enabled Morocco to preserve its stability and cohesion, and reinforce its multi-faceted development, while remaining attached to its own system of reference.

Amrani underlined that, beyond the security aspect, the Kingdom's vision to fight terrorism and violent radicalism is comprehensive as it relies on avant-garde initiatives as upholding democracy, restructuring the religious field, refuting the violent extremist discourse, training imams (religious leaders), and promoting an Islam that advocates tolerance and moderation, pursuant to the authentic teachings of the Malekite rite.
