Rabat - Moroccan “K-1”and “Kickboxing”World Champion, Badr Hari, was sentence on Friday to 12 months in prison and six months probation. The athlete was sentenced on charges of assault and battery, according to Dutch media. The kickboxer will also have to pay more than 21,000 euros in damages.
The Public Prosecutor had asked for a ten-year prison sentence on the charges brought against him by a Dutch millionaire for “savagely attacking him in a night-club.”
Badr Hari on Friday appeared before the court on charges of assaulting a reveler in a private box at the Sensation White event at Amsterdam Arena.
Hari was accused of being one of several men who assaulted the travel industry entrepreneur Koen Everink and left him hospitalized with face and leg injuries. In court appearance in last month, Hari had denied all the charges against him and claimed to be innocent of each one.
Hari will serve only 4 months, since he had already spent 8 months in custody.
Born in 1984 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Badr Hari began practicing kickboxing at the age of seven, under the guidance of former World Champion Mousid Akamrane. He is famous for having a devastating knockout power and being an emotional fighter.
