El Jaddida, Morocco - It seems that Dante’s Inferno took place last Monday in Cosenza Province in Italy where the police found the burnt car of Ibtissam Touss, a Moroccan resident in Italy, sitting behind the wheel having been burnt to death while her 3-year-old baby Nicolas lay dead in the back seat, according to Italian media.
Police suspect that the arson attack is a settling of scores by a dangerous Italian Mafia. The police later found a 50-cent coin which is the signature of Ndranghet, the Mafia behind the attack, as a symbol of unpaid debt.
Shockingly, there was a third body in the trunk of the car, which was later identified as Ibtissam’s partner, a special surveillance officer involved in drug-trafficking. 52-year-old Giuseppe Lannicelli, the baby’s grand-father, was the victim of an unpaid debt.
The murder of a three-yard old baby is "a new barbaric act that horrifies us, and is the umpteenth proof that mafia organizations do not save the life of the weakest and most defenseless," Italian MEP and President of the European anti-Mafia commission, Sonia Alfano, was quoted by Italian media as saying.
The mafia takes seriously the matter of exonerating one’s end of the deal as Nicolas and Ibtissam were apparently caught between the Mafia and Giuseppe.
Giuseppe was previously imprisoned and was placed under house arrest while his Moroccan partner was detained for drug trafficking.
“How dare you kill a human-being that young, that exceeds all limits. It’s extremely horrible. I believe that this is the most abominable murder I have ever seen during my many years of work,” Attorney Franco Giacomantonio was quoted by Italian media a s saying.
