Casablanca - According to Moroccan news website Al Yaoum 24, the Spanish enclave of Melilia, in northern Morocco, has started receiving homosexual asylum seekers from North African countries.
Six homosexuals—two Moroccans, an Algerian girl and two Malians—have recently filled their requests for asylum at the Court of Melilia.
The Court of Melilia subsequently gave instructions to the Spanish security services in the enclave to investigate about the six asylum seekers.
According to Al Yaoum 24, the six individuals are expecting to receive a response concerning their requests for asylum in the Spanish enclave within six months,
According to the same source, their requests for asylum in Melilia will be processed under conditions set by the Court of Europe, which authorizes EU countries to grant asylum to homosexuals.
One of the details the Court of Melilia will examine is the degree of severity of the legislations that prohibit or limit homosexuality in the countries of the homosexual asylum seekers.
Last November, the European Union’s Court of Justice decided to facilitate conditions for homosexual asylum seekers from countries where their sexual orientations are condemned by the law.
