Agadir - Cristiano Ronaldo was named world player of the year by the magazine “World Soccer”, based on a poll in which journalists from all over the world voted. In addition to Ronaldo, the list was also comprised Leo Messi as a runner up and French international Franck Ribery who came third.
Real Madrid striker received a total of 1075 votes ahead of Messi’s 926 and Ribery’s 870. The three also make the main contenders for FIFA’s Ballon d’Or to be announced in January.
The poll’s top 10 included Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Arjen Robben, Neymar, Philipp Lahm, Robin Van Persie, Robert Lewandowski, Gareth Bale, and Radamel Falcao
Former Bayern Munich’s Jepp Heynckes was voted manager of the year ahead of Jurgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund, Atlético Madrid’s Diego Pablo Simeone, Alex Ferguson of Manchester United and Vicente Del Bosque of the Spanish team.
