New York - Brazil's Neymar has been given a four-game ban in the Copa America tournament after he was sent off at the end of his country's 1-0 defeat to Colombia on Wednesday.
Neymar will, therefore, miss the remainder of the Copa America. The Barcelona forward was initially banned for one match, but the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) increased the punishment upon reviewing the case.
The 23-year-old was shown the red card for kicking the ball at Colombia's Pablo Armero. He also appeared to head butt Jeison Murillo who confronted him.
Brazilian media reported that Neymar also confronted Chilean referee, Enrique Osses, near the changing area.
Colombia's Carlos Bacca, who was also sent off during the game, was also given a two-match ban for shoving Neymar in the back.
Both Brazil and Colombia have three points from two matches in this year's Copa America. They will face on Sunday Venezuela and Peru, respectively.
