Rabat - A police inspector assigned to the Mohammed V International Airport was arrested Friday for suspicion of involvement in a corruption case, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The officer remains in custody pending the outcome of the investigation conducted by the prefectural services of the judicial police in Casablanca under the supervision of the public prosecutor. The accused was caught on surveillance film in the process of accepting a financial incentive in return for the fulfillment of one of his administrative duties, the DGNS emphasized in a statement.
The accused will be brought before the public prosecutor after the conclusion of the investigation, the source added. The police officer was temporarily suspended from duty pending the outcome of the judicial proceeding.
The statement explains that the arrest was part of the administrative control missions conducted by the DGNS to ensure the normal operation of different police services.
