Díez-Hochleitner Rodríguez, Spain’s new Ambassador to Morocco

Rabat- The Spanish government appointed on Friday a new Ambassador to Morocco. Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, will replace José de Carvajal who is due to retire in June.

The new Spanish Ambassador held the position of Secretary General of the Royal House between 2002-2011. Before his appointment, he was Spain’s Permanent Representative to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Díez-Hochleitner Rodríguez was also ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Austria, Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

His appointment comes a week before the Moroccan and the Spanish government hold a high- level meeting on June 5th in Madrid.

Last April, the Spanish daily El Pais reported that the Spanish government had decided to appoint Rodríguez in Rabat because he enjoys the consensus of the whole spectrum of Spanish political parties, besides the facts that he is appreciated by King Felipe VI and is known by King Mohammed VI.
