Rabat- The Secretary General of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Mustapha Bakkoury, said King Mohammed VI is not satisfied with the way Chief of government Abdelilah Benkirane is using his name for political leverage over rivals, news website Hespress reported.
Bakkoury's comments came after the leaders of the opposition political parties held a meeting with the Royal Cabinet to referee a political dispute with the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) and its Secretary General and head of government Abdelilah Benkirane.
PAM chief was speaking at a meeting with opposition parties (USFP, Constitutional Union, and Istiqlal Party) at the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
According to the same source, he deemed the Benkirane government as a "passing phase that should not undermine fifty years of the construction of democracy in Morocco."
This comes after the monthly general policy session at the House of Representative was cut short when Abdelilah Benkirane accused the opposition of plotting to enfeeble his government.
He also accused opposition groups of political insanity, leading them to stand up and ask him to retract his statements.
