Rabat - Moroccan swimmer Nadia Ben Bahtane has become the first Moroccan woman to cross the Strait of Gibraltar.
On Tuesday April 28, the 36-year-old mother of two crossed the Gibraltar channel from Spain to Morocco in an elapsed timing of 4 hours and 18 minutes.
A marketing and communication director by profession, Ben Bahtane had undergone a 6-month rigorous training to embark on this adventure.
Speaking to Maghreb Arab Agency (MAP), Nadia said she is very proud to achieve this challenge despite her work and family commitments.
In 2013, she was named Open Water Swimming Women of The Year by the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA).
