Rabat– The Moroccan passport ranks 58th in terms of how much access it gives its holder to countries around the world without a visa, down from 73rd, on Arton Capital’s “Passport Index.”
Arton Capital, a financial firm aiming to empower individuals and families to become global citizens, has developed a ranking of all the passports in the world in terms of global mobility, based on how many countries can be visited without a visa, or by getting one upon arrival.
According to this year’s rating by Arton Capital, Morocco is the 58th on the list and holds the same rank as Mongolia, Benin, and Malawi. Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain are ahead of Morocco, while Egypt, Syria, Algeria, and Sudan fall behind. Morocco has access to 60 countries and territories worldwide, while the Moroccan government allows citizens of 66 countries to enter Morocco visa-free.
Developed countries with advanced economies lead the ranking. The US and UK passports are ranked together in first place, each giving access to 147 countries without a visa. France, South Korea, and Germany rank second, with access to 145 countries. They are followed by Italy and Sweden. Denmark, Singapore, Finland, Japan, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are in fourth place, and Switzerland comes fifth, with access to 142 countries.
The least weak passports, according to the ranking, are the Solomon Islands, Myanmar, South Sudan, Sao Tome and Principe, and the Palestinian Territories. They all rank 80th, giving access to only 20 countries.
