Rabat- UAE's Tasweek Real Estate Development and Marketing is planning to expand its healthcare portfolio in Morocco by investing an estimated $3 billion in medical tourism and other projects.
Speaking to news website Hespress, Tasweek CEO Masood Al Awar, said the company will create advanced 'Healthcare Cities' in Tangiers, Agadir and Casablanca. The advanced medical infrastructures will be financed by Emirati investors.
Tasweek is also expected to inaugurate the Marrakech Healthcare City by the first half of 2015. The mixed-use $60 million residential and healthcare complex covers an area of around 21,000 square meters and it is minutes away from the international national airport and the Central Business District of Marrakech.
Masood Al Awar, whose company received a trophy for 'Best Private Medical Project in Morocco and Africa' for its Marrakech HealthCare City (MHC) at the 2015 Medical Expo held recently at the Casablanca Fairgrounds in Casablanca, was quoted by news website Zawya as saying that the trophy recognizes Tasweek's "valuable contributions to Morocco's healthcare landscape and for seeking opinions and suggestions on how to develop genuine medical tourism for the benefit of the country and the entire African region."
"The health and well-being of citizens are crucial to the growth and progress of any nation and we at Tasweek we believe that the property sector should broaden its contributions further towards building advanced infrastructure to optimize medical services for the benefit of present and future generations," he added.
