Rabat- The African Football Confederation (CAF) designated on Wednesday in Cairo Gabon as host of the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The announcement was made by CAF President Issa Hayatou ollowing votes by the CAF Executive Committee.
The West African country beat Ghana and Algeria, who were also candidate to host the 31th edition of the continental tournament.
With this designation, Gabon will host the CAN for the second time in less than 8 years after it co-hosted it in 2012 with Equatorial Guinea.
