Rabat - Morocco’s Minister of Tourism Lahcen Haddad said that Morocco’s Dakhla has come under the spotlights for hosting Crans Montana Forum, which brings together highly ranked personalities from over 112 countries.
Talking to Morocco World News on the sideline of Crans Montana’s opening ceremony, Lahcen Haddad stressed the importance of Crans Montana Forum. He said that it gives Morocco “high exposure around the world,” as it brings together important figures from over 112 countries.
Morocco is on the agenda and Dakhla is at crossroads of all the debates regarding south-south Corporation, one of the most important themes for sustainable development, in addition to security and infrastructure questions,” Lahcen Haddad told MWN.
With a constant water temperature all year round (25°C), Dakhla has become a promising sports and sightseeing destination.
“Dakhla is an emergent destination. It’s also a sports and sustainable development destination. It’s a meeting point with the desert and the ocean, and it also enjoys a rich culture, which is the Hassani culture,” says Minister of Tourism.
Lahcen Haddad revealed to MWN that his Ministry aims to improve the touristic infrastructures in Dakhla, adding that it plans to increase the number of beds to 4,000 beds.
He also referred to his intention to inaugurate new air routes between Dakhla and other cities around Europe.
“Currently, Casablanca-Dakhla is the only air route between Dakhla and the rest of the world. Yet, we want to open new air routes between Dakhla and Europe in order to make it easier for European tourists to come to Dakhla,” Lahcen Haddad added.
“A flight between Paris to Dakhla is an air route that we consider. Flights from Germany, Spain or UK to Dakhla will also be available in the future,” Lahcen Haddad concluded.
