Paris - French president Francois Hollande bestowed, here Wednesday, France's highest award, the Legion of Honour, to former Moroccan athlete and Olympic champion Nawal El Moutawakel.
This award is in recognition of the strong ties between France and Morocco, and reflects the bonds of friendship between King Mohammed VI and the French president, former Olympic champion in 400m hurdles in Los Angeles in 1984 said.
El Moutawakel also expressed her condolences to France and the families of the three French athletes, Florence Arthaud, Camille Muffat and Alexis Vastine, victims of the helicopters’ collision in Argentina.
