Rabat - The National Water Plan (PNE) will cost 220 billion dirhams, 41% of which will be geared towards managing demand, Minister delegate for water Charafat Afilal said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a new session of MAP Forum, Afilal said that 9% of the total cost will be allocated to preventing floods, noting that 400 sites are threatened by floods in Morocco.
She added that 7% of total cost will be used for water desalination purposes which represents an alternative source of water in Morocco’s National Water Plan.
The financial resources to implement the plan will be collected from public and private sources, she said.
Afilal was the guest of a new MAP Forum session focusing on the national water plan and Morocco’s water security.
