Morocco’s Handicraft Exports Up 14.2% In 2014

Rabat - Morocco’s handicraft exports stood at 415 million dirhams in 2014, that is a 14.2% increase compared to 2013, The Ministry for handicrafts said.

Europe tops Morocco’s clients with a 245% increase in Moroccan handicrafts imports, the Ministry said.

The Ministry notes the diversity of Moroccan handicrafts and the new markets they are exported to, notably the US, Canada and Australia.

In 2014, copper handicrafts registered a remarkable export performance with a 44% growth, notes the Ministry.

Carpets and pottery maintained their position as most exported products with 15 and 18% growth rate respectively.

Casablanca and Marrakech continue to be the main powerhouses of Moroccan handicraft production with 80% of exports.
