Rabat - Maghreb Confidential site has reported that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has been urgently hospitalized Tuesday in Paris. The plane transporting the ill president landed at Bourget Airport (Paris).
The Algerian President would subsequently be transferred to Val de Grace Hospital.
This is the second time in just over a month that Bouteflika is being treated in France, after being hospitalized in a clinic in Grenoble last November. In the last few weeks he was shown on Algerian television hosting foreign dignitaries to portray that his illness does not prevent him from running the country.
The Algerian opposition is asking for early elections, as the current president is no longer fit to govern. Their demands fall on deaf ears. Many predict that the new president has already been chosen behind closed doors and he will be introduced as soon as Bouteflika is no longer in the picture.
Although reported by various Algerian media outlets, the information is still not confirmed by official sources.
