Rabat - Graffiti glorifying the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria were discovered on one of the walls of the Hriq neighborhood in the northern city of Martil.
According to Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya newspaper in its Thursday December 4th issue, authorities were mobilized after the discovery of some graffiti depicting the flag of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria in the Hriq neighborhood known to be a bastion of Jihadism in Morocco.
The newspaper added that some people took pictures of the graffiti revering the deeds of the terrorist organization the Islamic State. The local authorities, however, were quick to react and confiscated the pictures taken by the neighborhood residents in order to collect data and identify the perpetrators.
The Hriq neighborhood exported tens of jihadists who have joined the ranks of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, the newspaper said.
It went on to add that the culprit might be a jihadist who returned from the Middle East or someone who is planning to do so in the future.
This is not the first time. In the eastern city of Berkane, Moroccan security services arrested 3 people on suspicion of incitement to terrorism via a video published on the Internet.
The three individuals pledged allegiance to the Islamic State leader "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi" in a video posted on YouTube entitled "Appearance of Jund Al-Khilafa in the Maghreb Al-Alqsa.
