Rabat - Lionel Messi has broken La Liga's long-standing goalscoring record held by Telmo Zarra thanks to his three goals on Saturday against Sevilla.
The Argentine netted three goals during the Sevilla game at Camp Nou which Barcelona won 5-1.
Messi scored at the 21, 72 and 78th minutes to break La Liga's top scorer record long held by former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra.
Zarra scored 251 goals in 277 La Liga games, while Messi has managed to break that record in 289 games.
With 253 goals now, Messi has become La Liga's all-time goalscorer. At only 27, the Argentine talisman is already Barcelona's legend.
