King Mohammed VI Chairs Henna Ceremony of Prince Moulay Rachid's Wedding

Rabat - King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, chaired, on Thursday evening at the Rabat Royal Palace, the henna traditional ceremony marking the celebration of the wedding of Prince Moulay Rachid to Lalla Oum Keltoum.

The henna ritual, which is basic for the Moroccan wedding ceremony, was attended by members of the illustrious royal family and several national and foreign guests in an atmosphere marked by choreographies by troupes of popular arts.

Amid ululations and prayers to bless this joyful moment, the henna was put on the palm of Lalla Oum Keltoum.

Afterwards and in keeping with tradition, Prince Moulay Rachid and Lalla Oum Keltoum were carried in the Ammariya (a traditional large white chair) in an atmosphere marked by cheers for His Royal Highness.

The procession carrying the Ammariya toured the esplanade of the Royal Palace. Jubilation was in the air and people were rejoicing and praising the Prophet.

The newly-weds procession marched also in front of the stand of couples celebrating their weddings the same day as Prince Moulay Rachid.

The guests, notably Moroccan and foreign prominent figures, lined up to wave to the procession and congratulate HRH Prince Moulay Rachid in this blessed day.
