Rabat - The far-sighted approach initiated by King Mohammed VI in the religious field was mirrored in the fact of giving women more visibility and the crucial role that female scholar and preachers are playing in terms of supervising family life and managing women's affairs, said, on Wednesday in Rabat, Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs Mbarka Bouaida.
This approach is part of the major reforms undertaken by Morocco to empower women notably at the institutional level, said Bouaida at an international symposium themed "Women at the heart of monotheistic religions: a plural history".
Morocco's special relation with other monotheistic religions is rooted in the constitution, she said at the two-day event held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI.
The cabinet is striving continuously to encourage tolerance and interfaith dialogue while promoting a moderate Islam where women have a central role, said Bouaida, affirming that Morocco remains a committed actor to inter-civilizational and inter-religious dialogue thanks to the resolute action by the King.
For his part, US ambassador to Morocco Dwight L. Bush highlighted the importance of this theme, lauding the key role of women all over the world in all areas and the relevance of Morocco's policy in the field of managing religious affairs.
