Doha - Morocco won two awards at the fifth Intel Science Competition Arab World 2014 (ISC AW) in Doha, an annual pan-Arab science, technology, engineering and math competition for students in grades 9 to 12.
Two 17-year old Moroccan students Ahmed Amrani and Dounia Jaoui won the "modern technologies award" for their project Smart Cane, a white cane designed to facilitate movement to visually impaired people.
For their part, Houda Beldi and Zaineb Anaamaoui,17, won the "administration and the social sciences award" for their project "The Inbox," a software solution that enhances e-mail security.
The Grand Prix of the Intel Science Competition went to a group of Lebanese student who presented a collective project that helps preserve the coolness of vehicles parked under hot sun by taking advantage of solar energy.
