Morocco busts suspected ISIS recruiting cell

Rabat - Moroccan authorities have dismantled a seven-person cell recruiting volunteers to fight with the radical Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syria and Iraq, the Interior Ministry said Friday.

According to investigations, the cell -based in the cities of Fez, Outtat El Haj and Zayou- has recruited and dispatched several Moroccans to fight with ISIS in Iraq and Syria, in coordination with field leaders, including a former inmate sued for terrorism, the ministry added in a statement.

The ministry said the former detainee is an active member of the so-called "legal court" of this terrorist organization, which issues barbaric verdicts in the name of Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi against those who oppose his doctrine.

The investigations have revealed that cell members are involved in planning terrorist attacks against key positions in the Kingdom, as they have received instructions to respect the rules of covert action and use false identities to carry out their criminal plans, the same source added.
