Families of 9,11 victims launch anti-Islamophobia campaign

Rabat- Family members of the victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York have launched an Anti-Islamophobia campaign to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the tragedy that claimed the lives of more than 3000 people.

The campaign, which will be taking the form of bus ads, is designed to promote religious tolerance and interfaith unity especially that many people continue to hold Muslims responsible for the terrorist attack that brought down the World Trade Center towers.

"Let's build bridges, not walls. Hate hurts, hope heals," reads the ad. "Violence against Muslim or Sikh New Yorkers isn't patriotic. It's a hate crime. All people, of all faiths and backgrounds standing united, is the way to combat terror and war."

The ad is sponsored by September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, a group consisted of family members of those killed on 9/11.

"We wanted to make a clear statement that our 9/11 family members do not want to promote fear and hatred in our names," Peaceful Tomorrows Project Director Terry Greene told the Huffington Post.

"We believe that unity and interfaith tolerance are the path forward to a more peaceful tomorrow," he added.
