Rabat- Just few days after Moroccan physician Rajae Ghanimi won the title of the best Arab medical doctor in the world, here is another example of successful and determined women who honor their country.
Doha Badrane, a Moroccan woman who lives in Italy, has been licensed to practice as a surgeon by the medical authorities in Italy making her the first Moroccan doctor to complete all of her medical studies in Italy.
To put that great achievement into perspective, only 6,200 candidates are admitted to various Italian universities to complete studies in Medicine from nearly 80,000 who apply every year for the entrance exam.
According to a recent Italian study on immigration only one of 26 medical students in Italian universities is foreign against 8, 6% the average in the rest of Europe.
After years of hard work and dedication Doha Badrane defended her thesis in Medicine and Surgery about the monitoring of hepatitis A and the management of epidemics.
Professor Mauro Bergamini who oversaw Doha's thesis said that the findings of his student are very important for Italy.
Doha Badrane comes from a family of successful women. Her sister Badrane Kaoutar was recognized few years ago as the first Moroccan lawyer in Italy and she was Italy's personality of the year in 2013.
