Rabat- Moroccan authorities have dismantled a nine-person cell recruiting volunteers to fight with the radical Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Syria and Iraq, the Interior Ministry said Thursday.

Investigations into the cell, based in the cities of Fez, Tetouan and Fnideq, was carried out in cooperation with Spanish authorities, the ministry added in a statement.

According to the ministry, the recruits receive, in the ISIS training camps, military training in the use of weapons and bomb-making techniques, before being sent to carry out suicide operations or fight on different fronts where some of them have been involved in barbaric acts, such as beheading Syrian and Iraqi soldiers and disseminating their pictures on social networks.

The statement warned that many of the fighters hope to return after being trained, to carry out attacks in Morocco.
