Rabat- The Algerian Football Federation announced on its website that its national squad would donate $100,000 to the war-stricken population in Gaza.
The announcement puts an end to a rumor that went viral following Algeria’s remarkable performance in the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup.
Upon the return of Algerian players to their home country, a large number of news outlets reported that Algerian forward striker, Islam Slimani, had revealed that his teammate would donate their World Cup Prize money worth $ 9 million to the war-torn Gaza.
The North African side won the hearts of many people worldwide with their heroic effort in leading Germany, which eventually won the World Cup, to extra-time in their 16th round of World Cup clash.
The Fennec Foxes also reached the knockout stages of the competition for the first time in their history.
