Casablanca - The death toll from the collapse, on Friday, of three residential buildings in Casablanca has climbed to 23, said local authorities on Sunday.
A previous death toll said 16 people died after rescuers recovered the body of a 34-year old man from under the rubble, according to the same sources.
The search for more victims was temporarily suspended on Sunday due to the subsidence risk of other adjacent buildings, lieutenant-colonel Mohamed Pilia, commander of the regional mobile unit of Civil Defense in Casablanca told MAP, adding that laser rangefinders have been installed to detect movement.
