Tinejdad, Morocco- On the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, demand for all kinds of dates increases significantly, and some companies are flooding the Moroccan market with dates exported from Israel.
Unlike last year, these dates are being commercialized in the Moroccan market with the label “produced in Israel”
The Israeli dates are also labeled “Israel”, “West Bank”, “Jordan Valley”, “Red Sea”, or other places to avoid being recognized and boycotted.
According to Al-kanz, these dates are grown in occupied Palestine, lands colonized by Jewish settlers supported by the Israeli army.
Friends of Al Aqsa launched a campaign in early June calling for the boycott of the Israeli dates.
Under the theme “I check the label, do you ?”, the campaigners urge people to check the label of the dates they buy and avoid those coming from Israel, because they said that these dates were produced on “land that has been stolen from Palestinians.”
The Friends of Al Aqsa called on people to use the hash tag #icheckthelabel to raise awareness about the Israeli dates.

Moroccans, like many Muslims around the world, buy a considerable amount of dates before and during the holy month of Ramadan to use to break their fast.
The Moroccan government has not issued any official statement so far explaining the commercialization of Israeli dates in Moroccan markets, knowing that the current government, led by the Islamic party PJD, is against any normalization with Israel.
