The Minister in charge of Moroccans living abroad, Abdellatif Maâzouz, said Saturday in Rabat, that the Moroccan community established in the United States plays a key role in promoting bilateral cooperation between Morocco and the United States.
"Moroccans of the United States can be a very important link to achieve and implement projects for the exploitation of the legal framework of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries," Maâzouz noted at a meeting with Moroccan-American professionals.
The meeting, he said, is intended to associate Moroccan American professionals in the development process in Morocco and boost trade, as well as economic and technological cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.
“In its strategy to mobilize Moroccan skilled professionals around the world, Morocco does no longer rely on its diaspora only for the transfer of currency, but also and especially for the transfer of know-how and skills, which have become key for achieving development, noted.
The Minister went on to say that the idea of this event is to take advantage of these skilled professionals- whose number is around 300,000 Moroccans, 40 percent of whom are people with a high level of education- in particular by facilitating their contact with the various public and private institutions in Morocco with the view to establishing successful partnerships in strategic areas, such as industry, research, trade, technology and health.
The minister recalled, in this regard, the different efforts by his department for better use of this human capital with high added value.
