The UN human rights council adopted on Thursday an anti-corruption draft resolution, presented by Morocco on behalf of a group of countries. The project titled “negative impact of corruption on human rights enjoyment” was a recommendation of a panel held during the Council’s March session. The text, presented by Morocco on behalf of Austria, Brazil, Indonesia and Poland, explains the correlation existing between corruption and human rights and the council role in this matter. “Our countries have considered it opportune to follow up on the panel recommendations in order to explore the role that the human rights council can play in this field,” said Morocco’s permanent delegate to Geneva, Omar Hilale. The resolution asks the council’s consultative committee to examine this issue and present a report to the council in June 2014.
