Madrid - The Spanish government expressed, on Wednesday, its satisfaction following the unanimous adoption by the UNSC member states of a resolution extending for one year the MINURSO mandate.
Madrid reaffirms its support for a just, lasting and mutually-acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue under the UN aegis, said the Spanish foreign affairs ministry in a statement.
On this occasion, the Spanish government reiterated support for efforts by the UNSG Ban Ki-moon and his personal envoy for the Sahara, the statement added.
The UNSC extended for one year, on Tuesday, the MINURSO mandate until April 30, 2015 and reiterated the call on Algeria to take a census of the Tindouf camps populations in Algeria.
In its resolution 2152, unanimously adopted by the 15 member states, the UNSC recognized and commended the recent measures and initiatives taken by Morocco to reinforce CNDH regional committees in Dakhla and Laayoune.
