Taroudant, Morocco- New York-based investing giants Marc Lasry, son of Moroccan immigrants, and Wesley Edens, bought the Milwaukee Bucks for $550 million on Wednesday afternoon at the Bradley Center.
In a video posted on YouTube April 16, by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Inc, Herb Kohl, former owner of the team and former U.S. Senator, announced the sale of the Milwaukee Bucks for $550 million.
Marc Lasry, 54, is a business man based in New York of Moroccan origins.
Lasry, the American billionaire hedge fund manager, was born in Marrakech, Morocco, to a Moroccan-Jewish family.
According to the JSonline, Lasry “rose from what he described as an impoverished childhood to a place on Forbes' most recent list of the world's billionaires, with a reported net worth of $1.7 billion.”
“Lasry's family came to the United States with no money when he was a boy, and he shared a bedroom with two sisters while growing up in Connecticut," the same source added.
"We have a strong desire, I think at times an insane desire, to succeed," Lasry said at a news conference announcing their purchase of Milwaukee's NBA franchise, according to the same source.
Founded in 1968, The Milwaukee Bucks are a professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
