Fez - Morocco continues to lure foreign tourists with diversity, rich culture and the beauty of its breathtaking landscapes.
According to the French website Retraite-etranger.fr, Morocco ranked the world’s top country for French senior citizens to retire.
Morocco came on top of a list of 10 countries, which included Thailand, Mauritius, Tunisia, Portugal, Bali (Indonesia), Spain, Dominican Republic, Senegal and Italy.
To identify the best suited countries for retirement, the French sites based its judgment on eight criteria, including property prices, the cost of living, climate and environment, the quality of medical care, Security and stability, culture, entertainment and cuisine, ease of integration and infrastructure.
Tunisia, the second North African county to be included in the top 10 list, comes in 4th place.
Tunisia “still suffers from political uncertainty, related to the events of the Arab Spring,” the same source added.
According to L’Express, Morocco is the country where most of French retirees live.
In February 2013, French TV channel France 2, asked what was the reason that pushed increased numbers of French citizens to choose Morocco for retirement or for doing business.
Anne Torterat, one of the people featured on the program, explained the reasons that pushed her to create her own business in Morocco. “Morocco is really the paradise of children. Our children adore Morocco in general…They spend their life with their friends. We lead a peaceful life; we know that our children are monitored and protected,” she said.
“This is happiness. They can also do a number of activities in open air because the weather is always nice and warm. Indeed, it’s the paradise of children,” she added.
