Casablanca - Morocco’s Banque Centrale Populaire, one of Morocco’s largest banks, has received the green light from the American authorities to establish a representative office in Washington D.C.
The Banque Populaire will be the first Moroccan bank to have a representation on American soil.
According to a communique issued by the Moroccan bank on Friday, “the Banque Centrale Populaire has been approved by the authorities of the Federal Reserve to open a Representative Office in Washington DC and will, thus, be the first Moroccan bank to have an office in the territory of United States of America.”
“Long awaited by the Moroccan community in the United States of America, the opening of a representative office of the Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) in Washington DC will be effective soon,” it added.
According to the same source, the main tasks of the bank’s office in the American capital will be as follows:
- To facilitate the business relationship of the Moroccan community with its bank in Morocco;
- To put at the disposal of customers all the necessary information about financial products and services offered by the Banque Populaire in Morocco;
- To conduct the preliminary steps necessary for the effective establishment of business relations between Morocco and the United States.
